Foundation

The Art Over the Centuries” Foundation was founded in 2018. Our basic long term mission is development of the plastic and visual arts, support freelance artists in Bulgaria and to encourage education in the field of culture. Creating communities, in which the art is a unifying factor and a valuable resource in communication between people. In 2018 Foundation won an advertising activity quota of Google Ad Grants worth 10 000 $ per month. In 2020, the "Resonance of the Senses" Project was approved under the "Civic Activity" component of the Municipality of Plovdiv, which promotes carving and the influence of music in the context of art therapy. Partners in the project are academic professors from the Medical University of Plovdiv and AMTII "Prof. Asen Diamandiev". In 2020, a Christmas exhibition of Plovdiv authors of applied art was realized in the Savov Gallery. From 2022, the Foundation organizes the first international Biennale for contemporary art in Bulgaria, in which both Bulgarian artists and artists from the Netherlands, Republic of Macedonia, Turkey, Romania participate.

Maria Argirova

Finansier, Manager and Curator

Maria Argirova was born in Plovdiv in 1973. She lives and works in Plovdiv. She graduated from Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and Methodius" in 2003, majoring in "Finance", PU "Paisiy Hilendarski", majoring in "Accounting and Control" and National Academy of Arts, Sofia - Art Studies "Contemporary and Modern Art" - Prof. Svilen Stefanov and Prof. Chavdar Popov.

Experience :
Maria Argirova worked for 25 years in the field of private business and banking 
as a financial consultant, chief accountant and business manager.
In 2015, he discovered the plastic artistic expression of carving and made it his mission to
spread this technique in Bulgaria. A characteristic feature of her work is the conceptual idea,
presented as a polyphony between different genres - music, opera, literature and visual arts.
Maria believes that the multi genre approach is the only resonance that would bring the
audience to "spiritual unity" with art and the artist.
Events and exhibitions:
- 2016 "Fire Through the Ages" Winning Project - Trapped Quarter of Creative Industries 
Foundation 2019 - 10 live events and over 120 children participated in carving training
- 2016. Night of the Museums - Ethnographic Museum, Plovdiv
- 2017 International Children's Day and closing event of the "Fire Through the Ages" project 
Stambolian House Ancient Plovdiv. The event is organized jointly with OI Starinen Plovdiv.
- 2017 Participation in the International multi-genre festival "Forest Resonance"
at the invitation of the Resonance Gallery, Plovdiv

2017 National Campaign "Play of lights in baroque reflections" - main goal popularization

of carving in Bulgaria, education and development of children's creative potential through
the expressive means of art.

visualized through the expressive means of painting.
- 2020 - Cultural Manager and host of the Christmas exhibition "A Christmas Tale 2020" -
Online exhibition at the "Savov" Gallery.
- 2021 - Annual Exhibition 2020 of the Savov Gallery in partnership with the
Art Through the Ages Foundation.
- 2021 - Manager and organizer of the Contemporary Art Biennale-Plovdiv.
- 2022 - Curator of "Painting and encaustic" - an exhibition of Stamen Karamfilov
in the "Ivan Vazov" Primary School in Old Plovdiv
- 2023 - Curator of "The First 7 - Contemporary Visual Forms of the Balkans",
exhibition at the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bitola,
Republic of Macedonia
- 2023 - Curator "The light in me - painting and encaustic, Stamen Karamfilov",

Biennial of Contemporary Art Plovdiv 2022 Opening

Contemporary Art Biennale - Plovdiv 2022 is an international
contemporary art forum that aims to present trends in the development of
visual arts in a globally changing world, transforming borders and
cultural perceptions in the context of the messages of the new social
order in which all we live today.
In 2022, 40 authors were presented in two expositions located in the
Boris Hristov House of Culture and the Romfeya Gallery.
